Play your part in the creation of a Grassroots Arts Venue in Dubai: The Courtyard Playhouse.

We are appealing to anyone who cares about the artistic and cultural landscape of our city and asking them to play their part in creating a grassroots arts venue in Dubai.

"The UAE is our home, and we believe that the population's unique make-up lends us all an artistic individuality. Dubai residents deserve a platform to express themselves: to say 'we are here; we are alive and kicking, and we have something to say!"

You can help by sharing news of the campaign through your local networks or by donating.

Why is this idea important?

As the number of grassroots theatre companies, musicians and artists continues to grow, the lack of affordable locations can't keep up. The Courtyard Playhouse will change that.

What is the funding for?

This is a passion project that we have undertaken and financed ourselves, we now want to involve a wider community of friends, and supporters to help us complete this worthwhile project by spreading the word. The addition of basic theatre lighting, backstage changing rooms and washrooms would realize the vision of a vibrant theatre space, created for Dubai, by the very people who live here.

About Tiffany and Kemsley Dickinson

Star-Crossed Theatre Lovers: Kemsley and Tiffany

Kemsley met professional photographer Tiffany Schultz in 2007 when he auditioned her for a role in a play. Tiffany didn't get the part and worked on props, making a dragon hand-puppet. The dragon was so good that he married her; such is the magic of theatre! They have 5 cats and 2 dogs: Smash, Minion, Pumpkin, Dee, Dave, Matilda and George. Baby Arthur, their new addition, was born on the 14th June 2013. They are fond of sausages.

Drama Dubai

'Drama Dubai' was established in 2008 by Kemsley and Tiffany and over the past five years has developed into a Performing Arts Training Centre, licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. The company specializes in acting workshops, improvisation classes, productions and drama-based corporate training programmes. Their workshops have attracted brands such as Porsche, Richemont, HSBC, Audi and BMW and continue to grow in reputation.
