This project is challenging the stereotype of Superheroes having the perfect body and face, most of us are not like that yet we can still be heroes.
I will be producing a series of gritty portraits with a nice slice of humour to go with it. The subject matter being those folk who didn't quite make the grade at superhero school and are, like most of us, living their lives doing the day to day chores and their best to live a happy life while providing for their loved ones. Along with this gritty and humour laden style of photography, there is a very important message too. When we think of Superhero's our initial thoughts are of perfect bodies and beautiful faces, in reality most of us are not like that. However, that doesn't have to mean that we cannot still be heroes. Each of us in our own way can be heroes to our family, friends, colleagues and we all have the potential to help others.
Donate in order to get your hands on some of the exclusive photographs for the series as rewards for your contribution. This is your chance to have your MEFCC moments captured by a professional and contribute to a great photography exhibition!
I believe this project is important for a number of reasons, but mainly as a celebration of people. The characters playing my hero roles are everyday people. They are multi racial, gender mixed and of all ages, shapes and sizes. Real people, each with their own story and they are all heroes to someone, somewhere.
In my career I have been very fortunate to photograph some amazing people, a lot of them I admire because of their talent, but also because they have used their status to help others.
I have also worked on a few charitable projects, utilising my skills in helping others is something that is very important to me. I am sure my friends and colleagues would vouch for me as being one of the first to offer my services for a good cause. With this in mind, my intention is to donate whatever excess money is donated above the projected costs for the photo project to a charitable cause.
Thank you all for taking the time to check out our project and for contributing. We are confident that it is going to be spectacular. Love and peace to you all.
At the end of the project my aim is to have an exhibition and hopefully auction off the first edition of each print, the money we raise will also be donated to a charitable cause. Identifying a charity and trying to be involved is a lot harder and more complex than you might think, so I have been advised that forwarding a donation on a personal level would be the best way forward in this respect, please keep an eye on my Aflamnah page for future developments.
Additionally, any money raised above the target will be donated to a charitable cause so feel free to donate generously as you will be helping others.
The funding I am hoping to raise is to cover the costs of:
As you can imagine these things are rather costly, but well worth it in the end. I have been very fortunate to have the use of all lighting and gear for the project sponsored by Action Filmz in Dubai.

I am a Scottish / South African Photographer based in Dubai. I have been a freelance Professional Photographer since 1999, having started my career in South Africa.
My early photographic work was mainly concentrated in the Music industry and magazine editorial. My love for Photography was born out of my love for Music, for me both subjects along with Art and Fashion influence each other. I would say that this love for Alternative & Indie Rock music is definitely evident in my photographic style and in particular with my personal projects. This is ideal when it comes to the work I will be producing for this project: We Can Be Heroes.
