The Story of Breakfast in Beirut ? 

The story of Sarah revolves around two major parts in her life, a relationship with a city that came to her in a love relationship with a man name ziad.

Beirut. The city. has always  suffered from a continuous struggle for finding stability and some how that part of Beirut has been contagious enough to affect its people– so everybody living in Beirut is striving  to find that stability, but  somehow it keeps getting lost.

In the middle of The Nightlife rush in Gemmayzeh, the red lights in Monot, The Busy bistros and cafes in Hamra street, the protests and political outbursts,  gas prices inflation and electivity cut outs, Sarah escaped it.

She paused her life in Beirut. She Did not want to revive it again. She arrived to New York, to a big and crowded city that she can easily get lost in. she can easily erase everything and start from scratch. 

can you imagine someone reliving his memories over and over until present day and feeling their reality is just a dream waiting to wake up ...? 

do we know ourselves very well ? do we really understand ourselves perfectly to the point where we can describe ourselves in 2 seconds. 

well i tried for the past 7 years and i kept failing. i think i found the right answer  in breakfast in beirut

who we really are is what i'm looking to invest my entire time on this world..

before getting married, studying, getting degrees, having babies and buying grocery and shoes i think we should really know who we are and where we belong to ...

True Story ? 

Breakfast in Beirut is a series of unforgetabble memories from an inspired life story about a young woman who lost the only person that she found comfort and love with.

She was attached to him. he brought a certin magic to her life with his smile. Even though Beirut in 2005 - 2009 's poliitcal crisis was a never ending crisis,  but this young woman found Beirut to be the land of Dreams, the safest place on earth with her eternal love to him. 

Sarah :  Journalism and Beirut  

Sarah is a journalist; Beirut 's love is scatered among words she types everyday on her type writer or in the middle of the spilled ink on papers and photographs...

She captures bits and pieces of those memories and a magical Beirut when she snaps a photograph through her camera. 

She always asked herself whther she was born to be a journalist or it happened by chance ? 

"If i will be a journalist for the rest of my life, then who is going to tell my story ?." 

Location of The Filming 

location of the filming will start in New York to shoot the first sequnce of the film following that we will raise the second part of the budget to start shooting for Beirut 

5000 $ for first sequance !! 

it will include casting notices.

Defining Home can be tricky !! it is definitly not a passport .. it is something else .. 

Why Fund Breakfast in Beirut ? 

living in Beirut, made me think of creating this film, everything was happeniing to me and people around me made me come into one realization; our story is worth to be told. 

against all odds, against our fathers, we wanted to tell the world and proove to them that beirut with all its drama is the happiest place on earth. 

have you ever wondered why do they called it haven on earth ? or swtiezrland of the middle east or even best middle esteren city on the mediteranian sea? 

No, i'm not talking here about the weather or the night life or the people or even the mountains and beaches. 

i'm talking about a certin ingrediant in the air that you are bound to catch when ever your nostrlis enhale ...  

yes. you will get addicted .. with time you will find yourself unable to breathe somewhere else, you will be physically and mentally addicted to it and you will do what ever it takes to enhale that ingrediant again.. 

this ingrediant followed me around the cosy streets, i was breathing it, when i had my first kiss ever...

when i got my first A in College 

when i won first political debate among my friends 

when i stood in front of the ATM machine with 4 $ in my Pocket 

when i realized that i was in love .. 

when i was sitting in a 5 start fancy resaturant with my Mother her birthday 

when i was hiding in the corridor with my dear friend the "Candle" and cars keys praying not to get bombed.. 

or when i was walking down the street in Beirut staring at Parked cars hoping not to get blown up... 

You know that saying .. some bad things might happen to you but for a good end ? eventully it is Karma .. 

I Beleive that Beirut is that Good end .. Despite the Bad things that happened, the element of losing that ingrediant every mintue of our days and nights in Beirut made us apprieate it even more.. 

living in Beirut definitly taught me What life really means. 

life is gambling. you gamble everything and wait for a good luck charm to sweep you off your feet..

Beirut was my good luck charm. 

I'm a human. i'm not hiding any secrets. this film will explode the secrest i have been trying to hide for many years.

sometimes writing a script can be theraputic. espcially when it is related to home and what comes after it.

as an arab our idenitiy sometimes is smuddged under camfolages and propaganada and pices of papers called passports.

what if we got the chance to clear our head and mind like a blank slate and start over ? what if we found someone that triggers every part of our exsistance and make us reevalute what home means ?

to properly intorduce myself My Name is Farah ALHashim. I’m a Kuwaiti –Lebanese writer and filmmaker graduated with a BA degree in Journalism from the Lebanese American University in Beirut in 2009 and currently pursing my M.FA in Film Making and Cinematography from the New York Film Academy – Universal studios. I have written and directed 5 short films one of them is in the official selection in Central Florida Film Festival entitled “ Marilyn Monroe in New York”.
