CUT is a Kuwaiti feature film with collaboration by artists from Egypt and Lebanon. It is one of the first, if not the first, of its kind in the GCC area. It's about a group of friends who wanted to celebrate their long awaited friend's return. Things turn out very different to what they were expecting. The party turns into a nightmare of mysterious, brutal murders with a complex ending full of twists and turns that keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. The purpose of the movie is to create a new genre in GCC cinema. Thriller and action movies are very poplar genres in the region but we rarely create our own. This project has many ambitions and hopes to increase awarrenece of the proccess of movie making in Kuwait and the GCC, while building a solid base from which we can support upcoming Khaliji movies. We also hope to inspire and encourage filmmakers to invest their talents and creativity and gaining experience in the industry. We want to be able to compete on the world stage in this genre and we can start to do this by building confidence within the Arab, and mainly Khaliji talents that they can reach their goals by collaboration and determination. So, this is not just another film but it's rather a starting point for the future of Khaliji Cinema.
By supporting this project you show support for the cinema industry in the GCC area, encourage new filmmakers to take action and make films, and you also help to increase awarness and knowledge in the film industry. Supporting the project is supporting the talented filmmakers that need your support and encouragement!
The film contains many new features that will be introduced to the Arabic way of making films. We beleive that this movie will change the way filmmakers make films. We have worked so far on more than 30 visual effects shots. We made the biggest portable green screen in Kuwait with 6m high and 3m width. We filmed the whole movie in 4 days which on its own is a huge achievment. And currently we are using all state of the art technologies in post production. We hope to screen the film for its first time during the Dubai International Film Festival and from to international film festivals.
We will use the fund to finish the film and market it to theatres and festivals worldwide. We want to reach as many people as possible around the globe. Not for commercial purposes only but it's mainly because we want the world to know about us. Arab, muslims, Khaliji, Kuwaiti. We exsist. We can do more. The fund will be used to purchase licences for different postproduction packages. And part of the fund will be used for marketing the film, printing/rendering the film and networking with distributors and publishors.
